K&F Carbon Fiber tripod

K&F Carbon Fiber tripod (BA225)

The K&F BA225 is a portable travel tripod. Because it's made from high-quality carbon fiber, the tripod is really lightweight and portable coming in at just 2.20lbs (1kg) and 14 inches (35,56cm) when folded. It has a maximum load capacity of 17.6lbs (8kg) which is still a lot, but a bit less than the K&F Aluminium Tripod which can have a load of 22lbs (10kg).

Ball Head

At the top of the tripod is the K&F-25 ball head which is a bit different from their K&F-28 ball head. It's a bit smaller and narrower (25mm) but they're both made out of metal which makes them durable and tough enough to carry heavy loads. The ball head can rotate 360° which is perfect for taking landscape photos. The locking mechanism feels really sturdy and locks the ball head firmly in place. Next to the quick release plate, there's a bubble level. I really like the new K&F-25, it's as strong as the K&F-28 while being a bit smaller.

Center Column

The center column of the BA225 can extend two times meaning it can get to a height of 60" (153cm) which is definitely high enough for a tripod. It's impressive a tripod of this size and weight can get so high. Keep in mind the tripod can get a little unstable at such a height. To make it more stable, you can hang a weight (or backpack) on the hook that's on the bottom of the center column.

This hook can also be twisted off so you can completely remove the center column and put it in reverse. This means your camera will be hanging upside down but you can get pretty low to the ground. This is useful for taking macro shots of small objects.

Monopod

Just like the TM2515T, the BA225 also has a leg that can be removed to use as a monopod. The removable leg has an orange ring which the other legs don't have. You can twist the leg to remove it. Once it's off, you can also remove the center column and twist it on top of the removed leg. You then have a monopod which can extend 4 times! As a monopod, it can go from 37cm all the way up to 159cm. This is even higher than the maximum height of the tripod with three legs. Although a monopod is less stable than a tripod and you can't use it for long exposures, it's a lot lighter and easier to carry around and the monopod can carry the weight if you have a heavy setup.

Compared to the K&F Aluminium tripod (TM2515T)

When comparing the BA225 (carbon travel tripod) with the TM2515T (aluminium tripod), they actually have a lot of similarities. Both of them have a ball head that can rotate 360°, a removable center column, the ability to convert it to a monopod,...

The big difference is height, stability, and weight. The carbon tripod is 0,7kg lighter (which is a lot if you have to carry the tripod all day). It's also smaller and thus more portable.

The aluminium TM2515T can get a bit higher since its center column can extend two times instead of once. It's also a lot more stable (especially with heavy setups and when the tripod is at its maximum height).

Conclusion

The BA225 carbon fiber tripod is the perfect choice if you have to carry your tripod for longer times like when traveling. Because it's so lightweight, the tripod won't kill your back. It has a lot of professional features like the removable center column, high-quality ball head, and monopod.
